Default New cam/springs are going in...

I started working on everything tonight, but haven't gotten in any particular hurry since my gaskets haven't arrived yet. They are supposed to be delivered Tuesday, so I'll probably have everything ready to finish then so I can just button it back up and do some testing...

Notes so far...
*The Comp 918 springs are pretty neat. Good seat pressure, not outrageous open pressure, and they're lightweight.
*The Comp Ti retainers for these things only weigh 7 grams! I weighed a Ti retainer for a larger 1.44" valvespring, and it was more than twice as heavy.
*With the valvetrain components being a good bit lighter, the 918 springs should work well. I'm setting up the install height @ 1.770-1.780"
*The passenger side springs are a breeze to do without the heater core/AC box being there
*I'm not trying to be "top secret man" or anything, but I don't care to discuss cam specs until I get some shakedown testing done on the new setup (damn, I sound like Pro Stock John now ).
*Overall, the more crap I remove from the car, the easier it is to work on! I almost feel guilty for everything being so open and accessible now!

Two questions George. 1) any word of a max lift with those springs? and 2) They can use stock retainers too, right?

TIA

According to Comp, they're good for .625 lift and 7500rpm with a 1.800 installed height. They do use the stock retainer, or the Comp 772 Ti retainer.

Just wanted to share...had my cam and springs installed professionally, so this was not a concern. Second pass down the track, bang! Blew a valve spring. This is not unheard of with Comp stuff. I won't but their stuff again.

sounds like he was running a 941 h-11 spring.
the 918 is mucho better. its true pacaloy and should be fine. its not the cam/spring manufacturer's fault.

Damn no AC/Or heater core would be sweet as hell installing springs! I installed a Hotcam this weekend with my buddy and that passenger side was a bitch.

George....not happy with 10.8s NA? I know man, never satisfied

Wondering if you can email me any info you have regarding pulling the dash and removing the heater box. My A/C and heater are already gone, so would like to pull the box. About how much time with all the right tools?

Thanks! and good luckl with the new setup!

But you won't Derek... Trust me, I'll get some shakedown testing done long before Gainesville opens back up. I think I'll stroll out to Jax Raceways next Tuesday and do some testing... The cam swap will be done Wednesday.

I thought about taking the car down to Orlando this weekend, but that's not the smart thing to do on your 10th anniversary weekend

It's really not that difficult, just time consuming... I'll email you when I get home tonight (after I swap some more valvesprings ).
