Default Cam degree question

When installing a cam do I really need to degree it? I understand anything worth doing is worth doing right. What I am trying to get at is can I degree the new cam off of where the old cam was?

I did try to do a search but my internet sucks here in Kyrgyzstan.

You don't need to but I would degree the cam. It will give you the desired ICL. If you order a custom grind I find it very important to degree the cam. If its off the shelf its a bit more forgiving with the extra advance ground in.
