Default Fair value

I'm possibly in the market to buy a 6L set up to start a turbo project. There's a guy who has one near me with 50K miles and he wants $1000 for it.

Is that a fair price for that motor?

The guy just told me its an LQ9 motor if that helps determine the value.

He's holding firm to $1500 for it all..

For starters the LQ9 is too high a compression for Turbo, and Unless you want tear it down to fill with boost goodies that is not the route to take.

Thank you for at least responding.....

I was just looking for a block to build, so this would theoretically fit my needs. Plus, I wouldn't have to buy all the other accessories along with it.

It's going in an older muscle car.

Look for a LQ4 or take that LQ9 and rebuild bottom end with rods and boost pistons.

Both have same size head at 72cc. How much boost do you plan on running?

Not quite sure yet. If I do anything right now, it'll have to be low-buck (basically stock motor, air to air intercooler, etc).

Eventually, I'll want to get into the 8's on the stock suspension. But that would be way down the road.

Looks like I should pass on this one and just wait for a block (or LQ4) to pop up....

Yeah, the LQ4 is the way to go for low buck. They have dished pistons. You can probably run ~10 psi on a good motor with meth injection. You can go more but it won't last (ringlands)
