Default Charge to unlock an Hpp3??

Hey guys, does anyone know how much hypertech charges to unlock an HPP3? I SWORE I returned my computer back to stock before I had the custom programming done but when I tried to sell it, it wouldn't work. It is still looking for my VIN#.

Any ideas and or suggestions?

Thanks!

they told me that it would cost about $200 to have it done. i got pissed and talked to a different guy and got ti reprogrammed for free. BUT, the reason why i had to have this done was different then yours. so you will probably get charged. sorry man.

Joey,
I'm not sure about unlocking your HPP3. But when I called them they wanted $200 to change mine from a 99 to a 01. I'm sure all they do is just plug it in to something and reflash it. $200 is a little much, I think they should offer a free flash with purchase but it will never happen!

obviously the reason they make it that way is that if they didn't, for what they're charging they'd end up only selling ONE programmer and everyone would share it! <img src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" border="0" alt="[bullshit]" /> <img src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" border="0" alt="[bullshit]" /> <img src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" border="0" alt="[bullshit]" />
it's much easier designing in a deliberate defect to keep the price high than selling a bunch of them at a reasonable price <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" /> <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" /> <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" />

I do it all the time on 94-95 HPP's (those are easy <img src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" border="0" alt="[devil]" /> ) but I don't have the equipment to do it on 96+ HPP's. You do not need to actually replace anything in the HPP, heck, don't have to turn a screw on it. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Only problem is, equipment to do it is expensive. About $2k - that I don't have and can't justify, unless there is a LOT of interest in doing this (which there probably won't be when LS1_Edit finally hits the streets - I think there'll be a lot of clean, used ones available).
