if your car isn't going to see the track much (if ever) then why do you want such a big cam???

you said you wanted over 234 duration... why exactly?

if you want a good power making cam that has a little lope then there's no need to go bigger than a mid-high 220's cam on a 112.

unless you just want it basically for the sound of a really mean ls1. then i'd say it's a waste if you don't plan on racing a lot.

if i had to vote on one though - i'd say ms4 on a 111

Oddly small selection of cams to only list 3 and then an "other" option.

I am liking the MS4, but the only problem is the torque. Its great to have 430wrhp but not if you only have 385rwtq. I guess if you put a bottle on it, it will take care of that problem.

Most of the bigger cams seem to be that way. You trade off the torque spike for one that will carry out for a long time. Thereby making the HP.

right, but torque is really what makes your car fast right? Either way... my buddy has a cam only Z28. He uses the MS3 cam and a 150shot. He made 395 whp thru a 9 inch and like 380lbs tq. On the bottle it makes like 550 and 598tq

No. Torque at RPMs is what makes it fast. Would you race someone from a kick starting with your car in a higher gear so you take off at 3k rpm instead of 5500 or 6k rpms? What about launch at 3k at the track? Would you shift according to your torque peak instead of your HP peak? Heck no mang!

Yeah, the specs sound right on your buddy's car. Not sure what point you're trying to make though. Help me out a little. I'm a little slow today I guess.

haha sorry. I'm just trying to learn. I'm trying to decide between two car right now. One is heads cam(small cam) and makes 420/420 to the wheels. The other is a cam only car and makes around 420-30/395 to the wheels. I may be wrong but the heads cam car wont take as big of a shot as the cam only car right?

Why wouldn't it? Either way, the safe limit on these cars is generally accepted to be 150hp shot unless you have a built bottom end.

im loyal to the TREX, i have the V.2 But with the forged bottom end, im most likely going with a custom cam thats more nitrous friendly and can rev even higher than a TREX/MS4. Reason being is im limited on rear end ratios for my vehicle. I actually need more RPM even with a 28" tire to get across the traps in 4th to acheive the MPH i want.

thanks everyone for your opinion.
I was in the same boat about a month ago and now i'm installing my MS4 as we speak. I definately suggest going the MS4 route as long as you have stock heads and valves. The T-rex likes the strip. the MS4 likes the street. And the ms4 is an upgraded version of the MS3 but it has better low end.

i would say both cams like the strip.

the ms4 is way bigger than you'll need for a street car that occasionally sees the track.

smaller cams create more torque at a lower rpm becuase of the lesser overlap. with that - smaller cams also produce better fuel economy.

smaller cam's LIKE the street, and street cars LIKE smaller cams.

Do you have any experiential info? That's a bunch of regurgitated advertising that gets repeated in the postings. Read experience of people who actually have the cams, and you'll see a different scenario. Just as imslow has said.

No because the cam still inst in the car yet. I'm just repeating what I've heard about these cams because i asked the exact same thing about these 3 cams.
