Stock MAF w/screen
Does removing the screen on the stock MAF show any gains on stock or heads/cam cars? When i removed the screen in my '02 stock A4 WS6 it seems to kill throttle response. Has anyone experienced this?
When I had my '99 I removed the screen and it liked it. But that was a M6 with 4.10's. But my '02 A4 doesn't like the screen removed. Will the screen kill my performance when i put the heads/cam on the car? Will the PCM eventually learn after i remove the screen?

i had mine all apart a bit ago, just puttin on the baker hose that arrived today.
i left the screen in. My LT1 idled rougher with it out of it so............
I also not one person logged any before/after data when they removed the screen.
Felt is for ****. If you can feel a difference in somthing, imagine the net power increase. you won't feel things until you start talking percentages and that == a lot of net.
anyway, I left it in. I don't have a laptop for my autotap.

FWIW:
I think the LT1 needs the screen to straighten out the airflow before the MAF reads it due to the curves in the LT1's intake track. Otherwise the MAF doesn't read accurately or consistantly. With that said when the intake path is straight like with the LS1 the screen really isn't needed to straighten out the air flow. That's why the 02 Z06 doesn't have the screen anymore.
However, if the airbox leaks the screen can protect the MAF, I saw a T/A at CarMax the rear of the airbox was leaking on. The MAF screen had about 5-6 bugs stuck on it...
