That cam will work just fine. You dont need a converter but it would be nice. I would upgrade to hardened pushrods and at least an ls6 spring. As for "bigger lifters" umm no, if you have a high mileage motor i would recomend stock replacements.

yes it will work..

no you dont need bigger lifters..

you "should" being using better springs.. such as stock Z06 springs to handle the higher lift than your stock cam..

this cam is probably only going to give you about 15rwhp if you are doing just this cam alone.. and nothing else. If you are looking for more power, there are a ton of different cams out there that are worth doing the swap for.

you should, however, be replacing your springs, valve locks, valve seals, pushrods (to hardend pushrods) and so forth if you are doing a cam swap.

use the search function and search under "cam swap".. there will be hundreds of threads to read up on.

Get the Comp cam 918 springs and run 7.40 push rods because the companys that sell the cam will tell you to get 7.45 but my friends car went a tenth and a half faster with the 7.40 and maid 7 hp more on the dyno. Hope this helps. Good Luck

you need the LS6 pushrods becuase the base circle of the cam is diffrent

you also need "yellow" springs are better.

the guy doing the cam swap should be removing all this stuff anyways, should be using upgraded valve springs, hardend pushrods and a diffrent cam obviously. so get all the stuff and put it on your car. lifters are under the heads, leave them alone.

expect maybe 20RWHP diffrence for everything.

There are no "LS6" PR's, all LSx motors use the same part / length. GM made up the difference in base circle w/ longer valve stems.

Install 7.425" hardened PR's, you'll be good to go.

Just doesn't seem worth the effort, IMO. I understand that the cam is free, but you'll still have money in gaskets, fluids, etc. Depending on mileage, you should be replacing the oil pump and timing set as well.

Any automatic will see gains from a stall converter, even with the stock cam. You can get much more out of several off the shelf grinds TSP 224R & 228R, TR 224 & TR227. Most people I've read about swap the LS6 cam in and then upgrade to something else. Save yourself the labor and do it once.
