Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1?

Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1? What if a guy had a 98 or 99 LS1 car and bought long tubes for the 01-02 car (no egr) and also bought an LS6 intake (no egr). He would be clear hardware wise....
But what would be the best way to cover this change in the PCM (cost wise)?

Re: Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1? I believe a few vendors are starting to do "budget tunes" where they can delete trouble codes, rear O2's, change idle, etc, but don't alter the air/fuel or timing maps...

Re: Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1? Alternatively, some of the sponsors offer the LS6 intake set-up for the EGR.
It may also be possible to rig the EGR to operate, but simply have it discharge into air. I remember talking to Fireball about this a few months ago; I'm not sure if he tried it or not.

Re: Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1? If you do an "open air" EGR you'll set a P0401 code and turn on the SES light. Part of the diagnostic done by the PCM is to open the EGR valve when conditions are right, and look for a difference in the reading from the MAP sensor. This is how the PCM knows the EGR valve is flowing properly. If eliminating EGR on the 98-99, the mini PCM reprogram is probably the best way to go.

So the only thing to do would be to have the EGR fault code deleted from the program?
I suppose there may be more than one code that will have to be removed?

Re: Eliminate EGR on 98-99 LS1? There are several EGR codes. That would be the time to "get'em all", and also take care of any other minor changes (if any) that you are planning.
