I was going to buy a set of MACs but I’ve since decided to get SLP LTs. I was wondering if you guys are using the AIR restrictor plates on the LT (specifically the SLPs) headers also, or is that ticking problem just a MAC thing?
i went without them for a month or so,, thennnnnn that dreading ticking sound came... like in the 1000-3000 rpm band... sure enough i put the restrictor plates on there and it stopped... i just got a square peice of metal and drill a small hole and holes for the bolts... nothing fancy.. but it worked fine...
and i have slp lts also

FLP's need the restrictor mod too.
The noise drove me so crazy i did the mod with silicone on one side of the restrictor until the extra gaskets came in.

I figured it would be for all headers, and not just MACs. Thanks for the replies.
what exactly is the restrictor mod? I know this applies to me and would like some details. I bought a 99 SS which had mac headers installed and i do have a ticking noise from about 1800-2400 rpm. sounds terrible, but i thought it was just part of having headers. Please help.

Gene; the air valve is getting a strong signal do to increased air flow. You need to limit that by installing a restrictor in each airtube flange. I think there is a writeup on ls1info.com
