Default Very Quick and Easy Question 4 U

are all LS1's 4 bolt mains? i have never seen a 2 bolt and was just curious as to if they exist.

Actually they are six, four on top and two on the sides.

really, thats why they can handle 500 hp on the stock bottom end huh. thats definately an improvement. thanks jub jub

Actually, a 2 bolt main LT1 can handle close to 700 HP just by adding main studs. 2 bolt main Gen-I and Gen-II blocks aren't as bad as some people say.

well that certainly makes me feel better, i just bought a brand new 2 bolt lt1 383 with arp main studs that should put out 475-500 N/A. lifetime warranty covers up to 650 hp, so im happy to hear that from someone else, especially an LS1 owner.

I did a heads/cam on a 156k 2-bolt LT1 shortblock and it ran 13.4 in the quarter in a 4700 lb. Caprice 9C1. I beat on it every day with no issues, close to 200 passes before I sold it. According to the ET chart on the impalass forum, I had the second quickest Comp 502 cammed B-body around. Considering yours is a built shortblock with studs, I wouldn't hesitate to wail on it. It'll hold up.

the compression is 11:1 and it is a brand new block so i could probably squirt a little juice if i had to.

I dont think he was referring to spraying on it, but I dont see where that would hurt. Just dont go throwing any 250single wet shots at it

i think another reason they are 6 bolt mains is because of the aluminum block?? Not sure but just kinda makes since in my head

Stock crank and block proven past 800 - 1000 HP. Not sure if it was using the stock mains or billet ones, and almost certainly ARP hardware, but still rather impressibe IMO.
