Default Confused By Dyno Results !

With only a lid, I dynoed my car in June on a Dynojet 248. My best run was 316rwhp/327rwtq.

Yesterday with all the mods in my sig, I dynoed on a Mustang dyno. Best was 355/355. Now I know the difference with my car from stock to now is like night and day. I can smoke the tires from a roll in 2nd <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> It absolutely flies compared to stock; certainly doesn't perform like it's only got a 39/28 power increase.

I was told there was some pinging, and maybe the timing was off a bit, but this seems really low for a heads/cam car. Most I've seen are around 400hp. Are there big differences in dynos? Thanks!

What kind of dyno do you use the first time? I'm no dyno expert but I do know that they both will give you different results. One will give you a higher reading that the other, though I cant remember which one.

Were your dyno number SAE corrected the first time and not the second time or vice versa?

Another thing that could have effected your car was weather. I know that can make a big difference as well as altitude.

I know the numbers were corrected on the first dyno, but I'm not sure about yesterday's run.

It was about 75 degrees and pretty humid on my first dyno, and around 40 and sunny yesterday.

Mustang dynos are known to read low. Get back on a Dynojet

dynos are only useful as a diagnosis machine. they are not the end all answer. first, you dynoed on two COMPLETELY different machines. it is true that the mustang dyno records lower outputs. on those types of machines, our stock motors pull about 265 RWHP. so now you are in the 355, sounds about right. also make sure the opertator is the same.

If I remember correctly the mustang dynos are around 15% low. So 355 X 15% = 53.25. That would put you somewhere around 408.
