Default Problems with rings on 2001s?!

I know someone that took their 01 vette to a dealer for excessive oil consumption and smoking and the dealer told them thats they are told to fix the rings and piston on the 2001 Anyone got info on this. My 01 is starting to smoke when I rev it up and I was curious about this. I only have 12k miles on it.

Thanks for the help.

Also check your pcv system for oil contamination. If you have alot of oil in the pcv, that will cause alot of consumption and smoking.
