Re: Safest redline for stock valvetrain?
The stock valvesprings are barely adequate for the stock motor, I personally wouldn't take them past the stock 6250 rpm limiter. Especially if there are more than 20K miles on the car. These weak valvesprings are the reason so many LS1s have bent pushrods, they allow the valves to float at higher rpm.

it is true that you can rev past the limitor and be safe for a little while, but you are trying to make a passenger car run like a race car. it has passenger car pieces and is not designed for the beating of racing. i would stay away from reving that high until you go to at least the LS6 springs. <img src="graemlins/formula.gif" border="0" alt="[Pontiac]" />

What are you guys talking about lol? I ran my car at 6200 rpm shift points and 6400 rpm rev limiter. Ran 11.9s before cam with this setup.
