Default Exhaust Ideas..

I have a 2001 SS and want to get some input on exhaust. I have done my complete intake including lid, filter, BBK, MAF.. I also have a 5177 kit spraying 125 now going to the 150 shot soon. Now I'm looking at getting the air out. I have been thinking about headers all the way out. I'm in CA wich sucks because no longtube is legal. here are my thoughts.

1) Leave stock manifolds on. Put an off road pipe (Speed inc $109.99), with a cutout ($33.99), O2 simms ($79.99) and Hooker exhaust ($77.95 Summit)..
This way I can remove the y-pipe and put the stock one in for smog.
Total $302 + shipping

2) Wait until hooker LT come out ($399 Summit) Have someone build y-pipe with cutout ($180) Buy simms (79.99), put a hooker mufler on ($77.95)
Total $738 + shipping (having to go stock for smog)

3) Do step 1 until the headers are released then add the headers later by cutting the y-pipe that came from speed inc.
Total $302 now, another $399 later (Headers)Going stock for smog

I'm thinking #3 is the best idea for performance but I don't want to have to pull it all out for smog.. Any thoughts?

I like #1, with an ORP that bolts to the stock manifolds that is very convenient. I would not install headers on a car only to take them off again. I'm not familiar with Kalifornia emissions.

or others helping me on this and don't know Cali's bunk rules they are like this.

1) No changing the stock exhaust layout. (Must run 2 pipes to 1 into the muffler)

2) No long tube or mid length headers.

3) Cats and O2 sensors must be in.

Those are basicaly the ones I would have to watch.. The only good thing is I don't have to smog until 2005 the first, time then it is every other year after that.
