You're not going to do a lid and longtubes at least? Adding a cam without those is like shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to keep a STOCK converter and have a lumpy idle, you'll need a cam like a 220/224 with a 108-110 LSA. Custom cam, basically.

I am installing a 224/228 lsa 114+3
Currently in my 2000 vette coupe I have LS6intake, 160 thermostat, 1 3/4 headers-trans cooler-3.42 gears- hardened shaft- Yank SS3600 high stall convertor - the converter is the monster maker on the strip taking me from high 12's down to 12.37 sec. It offers no driving problems on the road - it idles at 650rpm and will roll without putting foot on gas -

i would stick with 3:73s in an auto . a mild sized stall like around a 3000-3500 will still have good street manners and something like a 224/228 would be a decent combo.

I agree.
Read mods on my old TA. It was a good daily driver but I would've done a different cam like the 224/228 or the 228r. 4:10's are too much for a A4, if you have a converter-which you should for a H/C combo, because traction will become a major issue, atleast it was for me

stock converter and a big cam isnt a good idea.

a 2800-3000 stall will allow you to have a lumpier cam and still drive around just fine. there is no reason to want to keep the stock stall.
