FIPK kit from K&N ???
Is the FIPK kit induction form K&N any good?? How does it compare to a lid, anyone know? I might be getting a lid soon but if that is better then i'll hold off and just get that.

This won't help you any, but I have yet to see anybody use one of these... Looking at the way it's made, I can't imagine it would work as well as an aftermarket lid.

Looks like that to me too. its got the metal plate where the air comes up from the bottom for the lids. Only one i've seen used was on a Corvette on crank and chrome or one of them. I think they got the same HP increases as a lid but that was a few months ago and my memory fails me.

There was a guy on ls1.com or camaroz28.com that picked up 22hp on the dyno with the addition of th k&n kit. So, i'm sure it produces some hp.

Obviously it works better than a lid because its open...no closed airbox...it looks good in person, I would personally like to see a before and after dyno... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

That's me. A stock 279 peak rwhp before, 301 peak rwhp after. And a very definite SOTP improvement. I would put it better than a lid and !fra. Not quite as good as a lid and a CAI - such as FTRA.
Track results were kind of inconclusive. Didn't get any decent runs in before the mod bug bit some more. Essentially after the FIPK, cut-out, BFG DRs and a crank pulley I dropped from 13.59 to 13.12.
Comparing the cost of the FIPK against a lid, CAI, K&N and Baker hose - the FIPK will come out about $50 to $100 less expensive.
Basically, this has been my experience. Don't know of anyone else who has done it yet and as always YMMV ... Good Luck

Wow those are some great gains! I thought the kit would do nothing but suck hot air from under the hood. That's good to know. Congrats!
