Is "Xylol" the same thing as Xylene?

Is "Xylol" the same thing as Xylene? I've been everywhere today looking for Xylene, and the only place that even came close to having it was Lowe's. It was in a 1 gallon canister, and the main name on the front of the can was Xylol, but in small letters above that, it said Xylene. I looked at the back of the can, and it said "this product contains Xylene", but it didn't say what percent. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0"> Is this the same stuff, and the name Xylol is maybe just a brand name fot the Xylene, or should I just keep looking? BTW, when I went into a few automotive paint stores today, they had absolutley no idea what Xylene was! <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

Re: Is "Xylol" the same thing as Xylene? Yes, that is the product you are looking for. You might check some paint supply stores in your area, and maybe you can buy it in bigger amounts?

Re: Is "Xylol" the same thing as Xylene? Ace hardware carries it under that name. I think I pay about $9.50 for a gallon. Toulene is called Toluol at Ace and is about the same price.

Re: Is "Xylol" the same thing as Xylene? I have bought Xylene at a Sherwin-Williams paint store in my area. They cater to commericial and residential painting contractors. As I recall, it was around $8.50/gal. I have used it for cleaning paint brushes with epoxy paint on them.
A fellow LS1 friend uses it when hes' at the track. He mixes 1 gal Xylene to 4 gals 93 octane pump gas. He swears by it. If I'am not badly mistaken, Xylene in its current formulation is about 115 octane.
