Default To MAF or not to MAF .... this is my question?

Wow! Getting a decent tune over here is hard work.

The latest acclaimed expert, just told me that the first thing he does is remove the MAF. Go figure?

Have any of you guy’s removed your MAF??

Since purchasing the car last August, I have all the usual mods; Including Stage II heads and a Comp Cam custom grind, that is almost identical to a Hammer' with less lift to match 1.8 rockers. I also have an LS6 intake. From what I have read, all else with my stock bottom end should make the numbers.

I accept the fact that is “tune-up time....” It’s just this "No MAF" thing that has me a little concerned... Hence my question.

are you serious?
you might try improving the airflow through the MAF by various means, but simply throwing it away is a BIG mistake!

2 things, make sure you heard this correctly and two if you did, well.... run!!!! you car wont run with a maf period. now if he were referring to DFI, that might make sense, but i doubt it.

Your car will run without a MAF. I know someone that drove their SS for 2 weeks with no MAF, no lid, nothing, just open throttle body. Yes before you jump all over me, i agree that that was a bad thing to do, matter of fact it was nuts. However, suprisingly, it would have been hard to tell that it had no maf, it made almost as much power as stock, but made this hissing noise when opening the throttle body.
