what thould the average oil pressure be on my 02 ram air?i don't know what it was running at when i first bought the car but i noticed that it is currently on an average of under 40 with 600 miles on it.this seems oddly low compared to my 98 firebird 3.8L which was running around 55 on an average.thanks!

Well the 3.8L and the 5.7L are completely different...
What kind of trans do you have 6-speed or auto?
Autos are usually at 35psi
Manuals are usually at 40psi
Both at idle...they will shoot up high when its real cold out or just when the engine is cold...
You Oil pressure is fine..

Also, if you still have the factory oil in the engine that will contribute to lower pressure. I don't know how thin the oil is that they put in for break-in, but my dad's '02 SS was down to 25-30 psi today at idle. Mine was around 30-35 psi w/ the factory oil in it, but it's always 40-45 psi since I changed it. I used Castrol GTX 10w-30 until 5,000 miles and then swapped out to Royal Purple 10w-30.
