Default How do you dyno an A4?

I'm planning on dynoing sometime this week and was wondering do I keep it in OD or D? Do I go thru all 4 gears? Do I start in 1st gear? Thanks.

I dynoed my 2000 Z28 with 2.73 gears and for some reason the dyno only went up to 5300 rpm. Just want to make sure I get it right this time. Thanks again.

you still have 2.73's?

I know my car will downshift below 75mph, so last time FLP ran it up to 75mph and hit the throttle while the gear selector was in 3rd.

You want the dyno run done in 3rd gear. This is your 1:1 trans ratio. The best way for you to do this is to experiment on the highway to see at what MPH you will be able to go WOT and NOT have the car downshift into second. This way you'll be able to tell the dyno operator what MPH he needs to take it up to before going WOT. Be sure to keep it in D and not OD. Also, have him take it up to the limiter on each run so you can see the full powerband. I have all bolt-ons, and my car pulls to 6,200 RPM before peak HP starts to drop off. If the dyno operator has a Tech II, have him lock the converter for a pull!

Trevor hit it right on the money. Put in third gear then rap that baby to the revlimiter to get the full power band. My revlimiter is at 6800rpms and we ran mine all the way to it on all 3 pulls. Also like Trevor said if they can lock the converter for you get a pull unlocked then back it up locked to see how much power your converter is pulling on the dyno <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
