H/C Combos?
I'll take a stab at one (of many) possible combinations;
AFR 205 heads milled for high compression (and high velocity with the 205cc intakes), and a Thunder Racing 224/224 camshaft. It could make potentially 430 rwhp, and get better gas milage than stock with a good tune.

Fast 90 port matched to the TFS heads
Nick Williams TB
Custom TFS cam from ECS
Wait...that's my combo!
Should net 450+ rwhp with a proper tune on a six speed. Ben T.

230 or 232 seems to be the about the average cam out there. Then youve got the big stuff in the 244 range, and the baby stuff in the 210 range. Plenty of stuff in between them all. Different LSA's and advance affect your powerband one way or another. Your options are limitless.
As for heads, you have a ton of options here too. Plenty of budget stock valves LS6 (#243) heads out there for about a grand. Plenty of mid range, stage 2 or 2.5 heads for 1500 - 1750. Then youve got the big ticket item heads that go for 2200 - 2600 or more. The budget heads are a great bang for the buck, flow well, and bump up compression. Its almost hard to justify each jump to the more expensive ones, as the dollar per horsepower curve turns skyward.
