Default Raised lower airbox and FRA? (did search)

Hi all. Since I"m unfamiliar with the physics behind the benefits of racing the lower air box via washers could someone please let me know if it would be beneficial to do so on a 99 Z28 with the FRA...eventually will be adding FTRA. Any input?

Ok, with FRA you've cut the floor of the airbox out, and you are getting more air from up under the car. With a raised airbox, you get more air into the front of the airbox. This air mostly comes into the engine bay through the seam at the front of the hood/top of the nose. When I raised mine I went around 3 sides of the airbox with strips of weatherstripping, to close the gaps on the sides created by raising it. Dont raise it too high or you wont be able to close the hood.

Having the raised airbox won't amount to anything if you get the FTRA. For the FTRA to be 100% effective you need to seal the front of the airbox anyway.

the hole that you make larger when raising the airbox gets sealed off anyway by a piece of weatherstripping supplied in the ftra kit

Ahh the memories..I remember when I found out about the FRA mod shortly after buying my first LS1 car. It was 6 years ago. I just makes me laugh.

BTW, what's this I hear about a "TB Bypass"?? lol...

My memories of doing it go back to late `98.
One of the better free mods IMO.
