Default please listen to my engine. Does this sound normal?

After the cam swap it sounds noisy. I have the comp 228/230 with 7.4 pushrods and Patriot Gold springs. It seems to be a little louder since I put the duals on. I had the 918s at first. Is this normal for a cammed LS1? http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...=Movietick.flv

When I do my cam here soon im going to use 918s and 7.425 pushrods on a custom TSP cam. From what i gather the extra length helps with the tapping because of the slightly smaller cam base circle.

When i first got my cam in I had the 918s with 7.425 pushrods and then half of my springs broke. Don't know if it was the pushrods or just bad springs

Oh yeah, i remember that. Well a few people here recommended them to me. Some other person talked about running more pre load, like .011 more i want to say. Since the cam that i am getting is pretty much maxing the 918s (.595) i might not want to go with 7.425s.

Werent your springs different than most 918s? Like you had to force them into position, and then the pics of them were a little odd looking. It might have just been the springs. Do you still have the longer PRs? It seems like running the extra PR length is a almost a common practice. But, if im wrong then im glad i am before i purchased anything.

Yea i think the springs were bad. Comp sent me a new set but they said that the lighter color on them was normal. I think they are full of **** because the new set and other sets I have seen are the dark color. After all that i went back to the 7.4 length. And since you are getting close to coil bind with your lift I really wouldn't want to use a single spring that is rated to 600 lift. That's why i went to the Patriot golds duals. It's pretty scary when you break a single spring. Valves can fall and then guess what. If you have duals you will still have one spring to hold the valve from falling. Also i can't see getting many miles out of those springs with that much lift. It will be hard on them. Since i switched to duals I feel SOOO much better about getting on it, and I don't have as much lift as you will have. Your call but i wouldn't run a single with anything bigger than stock

Thats a good point. The cam that Im going to have carved up for me is 228/232, .588/.595 110+4 on an XER lobe. So yeah, right at the end of the 918. Maybe a set of PRC duals or Patriots would be better. What a hundred bucks more? I cant wait for this cam though, its going to hopefully be awesome. I just got my LS6 intake the other day, yet to install it. Now im looking into poly mounts, adjusting the fk out of my catted y, 4.10s, and a few other things before i get to put the cam in. I cant wait!
