What to do with stock ls1 cam
I had a cam installed into my '99 SS. Now the stock cam is sitting down in the basement. I was thinking of putting this into my wife's 2001 Tahoe (stock ls1 cam only had 15,000 miles on it). Any thoughts on what type of performance increase/decrease this will have? Will it be a waste of time to even attempt this kind of swap?
TIA

Do you have a small boat or waverunner to pull with that Tahoe? If so I would suggest putting a 45degree bend in the center of the cam, welding a loop to the new point in the middle, tying a rope to the loop, tying the other end of the rope to your waverunner or small boat, and tossing it over the side of afformentioned craft so as to keep it from moving around on the water on a windy day Either that or you could use it to bash things much like a hammer. Bashing things is always good, and there is always something that needs a good bashing
From what I understand the 99+ F-body cam is what the 2000+ trucks have stock. When the 98' F-bodies were putting the serious numbers down GM attempted a detune tactic of using the 5.3L truck cam. The only upgrade for us truck guys is the 98 LS1 cam or the LS6 cams. As a matter of fact a good friend of mine shoved a 98' LS1 cam in his 2001 silverado...revs out to 6600 and makes good power but needs a good converter to get out of the 2000-3000 rpm "bog."

nope LS1 (cars or trucks) or LS6; that's it
My friend (Jason 98 TA) put a '01 LS6 cam in his '00 5.3L, and it killed his bottom-end torque. Pulling was a nightmare. It will be much better once he gets the 6.0L in there. You can check out the progress in the truck section. He's gonna run a 216/220 cam in the 6.0L, and there will be plenty of N2O to go along with the added cubes!

oxidizr,
The '98-'00 F-bodies have the same cam. Starting in '01 the F-bodies started getting the truck cam and the LS6 intake. Just to clear that up.
Guess I will use the old cam as a weapon.

I had about 12 old LS1 cams laying around, I hammered them into the ground about half way, and used them as American flag holders, The inside diameter of the cam was a perfect size to hold the flag shafts.
