2001 MAF questions
i know the 01s run richer due to larger injectors
and i have read people have trouble with ported maf ends (pinging) and you need autotap and maft to tune it right my question is will i need all of this for my car and is the gain worth the money or should i just leave it alone i have no plans for any exhaust mods other than a catback and other mods in sig

IMO leave it alone. You will never tell the difference and it could cause problems.I would take the screen out.I mean gm started doing it on the new zo-6.So it must be ok for me.
I picked up 7 RWHP and 9 RWTQ with the addition of Whisper ported MAF ends on my 2001 Formula.
I have a run down on my dyno's, and more importantly, track times on my website. http://www.geocities.com/wilwaxu/

Actually, I was under the impression that the 01's run leaner. THe programming/fuel tables in the PCM will determine this more so than injector size. My 01 SS ran lean and pinged as soon as I added a Lid and Filter. With MAF Ends it was rediculous. I added a MAFT to combat the problem at WOT but I had to ditch the ends and just remove my screen. I have the stock SS exhause and have heard that backpressure can effect the pinging issue a bit. I'll know more when I change the Cat back in the spring and check the plugs.

01's run the LS6 intake which effects MAF calibration tables and the PCM's are running a narrower tolerance band -

Neo, the 2001's of course always have a LS6 intake. You are somehow one of the lucky ones I guess. What other mods do you have ?
Horsepower, thanks for the confirmation and clarification. Obviously, the 2001's are less tolerant of changes in that area and can ping more easily.
