Default FLP Longtubes bottomed out ???

I took a gamble and bought a used set of coated FLP Longtubes for a $400.. They came with the Y with switchable straight pipes or cats... Here is the catch. They were bottomed out. one side is just cosmetically scuffed. They other side however is dented on the bottom primary. The dent is about 2.5 inches long and I would guess about 1/4" dented in from the bottom.. Looking down into the header it doesn't look very bad at all.. Kind of like it's bulged or bubbled up on that single bottom primary.. There is also a small amount of rust on the inside where the damage was sustained Is this a big deal? I'm mainly after performance of these and not the show quality. I'm debating whether to put them on as is or try to get them fixed and re-coated.. I've already done heads (GTP Stage II) and cam and running though the stock exhaust manifolds (bottled up). I'm thinking these would be great on the car as is.. What are your opinions?? Has anyone had a similar experience? I wouldn't think these would be too restrictive.. I'll try to get some pics up soon.. Thanks for the input Michael

They sound fine to me. Getting them recoated would be a total waste of money. Who cares if a small spot doesnt have coating? I have 5 year old rusty headers on my 5.0 for a long time now and they work just the same as the shiny ones.

The primaries are still coated anyways, and thats probably more the part that counts if you are going for that whole "cool engine bay temps" theory on the coating.

on a somewhat realated topic....i know everybody says the flp's have great ground clearance, is this also true on a lowered (eibach pro-kit) car? i don't really worry about the whole y-pipe banging issue cause i live down the street from flp and would prob. have them do the install.

Thanks for the response.. I think I'm going to run them.. I shoudn't have the same clearance problems. I'm running the SLP Eibachs which have the same rate as the pro kit, but only drop an inch. Plus the headers are already dented there.. haha!

The FLP ground clearance is the best out there... we have installed them on lowered cars before with no problems. I would still just use caution when going over speed bumps with any header system.

I've gone over many speed bumps...I've never ever hit the headers...but I have destroyed the Y-pipe V-clamps

My macs cleared more speedbumps than my FLP's do BTW. The FLP ypipe itself clears fine, but the huge Vclamps are what scrapes now. The macs had no such clamps and thus would clear the speedbumps I have to drive over every day just fine. At this rate I'll need a subscription service from yall to get new v-clamps delivered each month...they are taking a beating. The ypipe is as far up as its gonna go as well.

The FLPs are long tubes... the MACs are not. Just point the bolts on the v-clamps and the band clamps up and not down.
