I just got home from swapping my cam. The dowels didn't work out for me. I couldnt get one of the lifters to catch by spinning the cam so I used the magnets.

you need to sand down the dowels a little so they fit and slide all the way back

i have used this method many times and it has always worked fine, once you get the dowels this correct size

i just used some sandpaper but a dremel would work also

i couldn't get the 5/16" dowel completely in on the pass side during my swap. it kept hanging up about 3/4 the way in. it didn't feel like it was hitting something solid, bottoming out for instance, but would start getting tight at a point and keep getting tighter the further you pushed it in. i grabbed a 1/4" dowel that i bought just in case and it slid right in.

I used 5/16 rods and didn't need to sand down anything at all. I just slid them in with very little force, it felt like they were going to get stuck but kept going.

Alot of mixed review's huh, i wonder why the same method doesnt work with everybody since an LS1/LS6, is a LS1/LS6 period.

Metal rods, wood rod's... no good

Magnet's hell yea!

$52.03, 16 magenets worked awesome!
Thank God i made a friend at autozone, as soon as i used them i returned them

I didnt have my digital cam with me but i had my phone, check out my interesting sight

Note: I tripple checked every magnet head (on my metal tool box) to make sure it wouldnt fall off in side my lifter tray's, im SO VERY happy i did! One magnet head fell off!!

Thank you guys for the warning! I would have had a heart attack, no joke!

Joe
