Wow, this is a lot of info. Thanks guys!

This post was just the beginning of an idea I've been kicking around for a bit. I would like to take a Z06 and pull the motor. I want the new motor to do a few things:

Displace over 400 CI (preferably 427)
Run 18-20#'s of boost
Accept a 250 direct-port setup

I am simply trying to get a full understanding of what would be required to do this. I understand that lots of $$$ is the first requirement.

Thanks for all the great thoughts so far, keep em coming!

I think a good crank, rods, bearings and ARP bolts holding everything together would work fine. Have it balanced and run a big bore with stock stroke or offset ground for a 3.72 stroke.
With a 4.1 bore and 3.72 stroke you would displace 393 ci and have lots of room for power from the heads. You would want to consider the lightest/strongest pistons and rods you can and also the lightest shaft based valvetrain. Friction reducing coating on the cylinder walls, thermal coating the pistons and heads would help too. A dry sump oiling system would be nice and free up a few ponies but isnt necessarily needed. you would need to carefully monitor that too much oil does not get pushed up around the valvetrain and cause damage to the crank in the process during high rpm operation.

Cheers,
Chris
