Cam question with 112 and 114

Right there we see that the HOT cam has more duration at .050, more duration also hurts the idle. Now the duration at .006" (right off the valve seat) also called the advertised duration, of the HOT cam is probably much greater as well, making it idle worse.
J.
1. The hammer uses MUCH faster ramp rates. The valves stay closed longer there by helping idle quality issues.
2. The Hot cam has MORE duration... i.e., a valve is open more of the time on the Hot cam vs. the C1.
3. The Hot cam is a split duration cam vs. the single pattern Hammer.
All of these factors together contribute to a smoother idling Hammer cam. <<<(no knock on the Hot cam here)
Now the Hammer in a car with a loud free flowing exhaust and/or adjustd to idle at low RPM's will lope like mad.
If you have any questions... just email me.
The 114 will improve it's idle (as compared to my cam) and the numbers will work well with some good heads while providing you a good kick right now. It will be VERY similar to the B1 in performance. It might need some TB work to get it to idle and perform like you would wish.
Hammer cam, 222/222 .566/.566 112, great mid range and top end. Good idle and torque. Some TB work needed to make it work with the stock programming. But lordy does it work for such a small cam.

I got this from Raughammer's page, and I don't understand how an A4 does not have idle problems with a 112 and 114 seperation. The Hot Cam is a 112 seperation and everyone is saying that idle is a "Big" problem. So how can the Hammer Cam not have an idle problem with the A4? I am definately planning on changing my cam, but also want the driveability of a daily driver(w/stock heads). Could use in light on this subject. Thanks,

Whos saying that ? The only idle problem the hotcam has is surging. The smallest of drill bits used in the TB plate will cure that. Alot of bigger cams have problems like that as well and do need custom tuning. The hotcam doesn't need any.
