Re: How bad does Knock Retard hurt??? Depends on how much you get, where in the rpm band you get it, and how long (across the rpm band) it lasts. It can be a big range of power loss.
Re: How bad does Knock Retard hurt??? RPM WS6 is correct. It varies alot, depending on how much power your motor is making and all kinds of variables.
Typically, small KR values of -1 degree and such are only robbing you of around 2-3 rwhp on a 350 rwhp setup. Start pulling 3 degrees with the same setup and you are looking at 10 rwhp or so.
I've seen KR cause 20+ rwhp losses on nitrous motor setups.
