What's wrong with my car heat?
This is probably something simple so I thought I would come here before I paid someone to much money to diagnose it. Here's my problem (after the car has warmed up) when the car is idleing or in stop and go traffic where I don't get my RPM's up, the heat blows cold air. Once I get moving, or if I pump the accelerator to get the RPM's up it quickly turns to hot air. The other day it snowed and I was sitting in stop and go traffic b/c the roads were bad for about an hour freezing my *ss off b/c my heat doesn't work and my car started to overheat. It quickly went back to normal temps once I got moving again though. What is wrong with my car? Thanks.
It's a 2000 Z28 w/ 58.5K miles. I don't know when the coolant was last flushed or changed b/c I have only had it for 3000 miles.

sounds like you have a restriction in your heater core.
get a heat gun and check the temps of both tubes going into the firewall while its blowing cold. one side will be much colder if your heater core is clogging. Its easy to fix. run a coolant flush in it for a couple of days. Then take both hoses off at the w.p. and use a blow gun with rubber end. gently blow air through and it should break loose.

I had the same problem.
First thing....stat was sticking.
second. Make sure you fill up the system and let it bleed (ie making sure there is a nice solid stream coming out right below the neck of the radiator)
