Default Causes for loss of gas mileage???

Lately I've been noticing that when I go to fill up, I'm only getting about 175-180 on the trip meter. I used to get closer to 200. Mods are hotcam, ported heads, ls6 Intake, and macs. Could anything happen during the install of these that would cause this? I changed the plugs the other day hoping that would help. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Man, Ive been getting about 140 MAX out of a full tank, thats with some fairly aggressive driving. I see posts about people whining about gettin 260 mpg on city streets! I have a few friends who are getting 140-150 out of a full tank..but then all the others are getting 220-240 per tank and we all drive pretty much the same. Odd thing is I have been getting the SAME mpg when I was stock, as I am getting now with FLP w/ orp and cutout, and a 3500 stall torque converter AND 3.73 gears. I dont understand this. TTT for ya

Check your tire pressure. It does make a difference. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" /> <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I experienced a serious loss of gas mileage when I installed my MAC headers. If you take a look at how MAC headers are constructed, you'll notice that the front O2 sensors are in such a position that they tend to get a biased reading. In other words, the O2 is located almost directly off the end of only one of the four tubes that go into the collector, therefore most of what it's reading is what is coming off one cylinder, rather than the whole bank of cylinders. I felt it would be beneficial to have the O2s getting a better sniff of what's coming off the entire bank, so figuring I had nothing to lose by trying it, I bought a couple of O2 bungs and some O2 extension harnesses, and relocated the front O2s a few inches downstream into the y-pipe, just before where the pipes bend rearward. My results: I went from roughly 18 mpg on the highway to 23mpg instantly. A couple of weeks later I made a 800 mile road trip and got 26 mpg. This with the Hot Cam, Headers, 3.73 gears, and a buttload of other stuff. From what I've seen and heard, not all MAC header owners have experienced these drops in mileage, but I know of a few who have. If you try this or something similar, post the results. It would be interesting to know if this is common, or if my results were just a freak thing.

The reason for the loss of mileage is your mods bro.i USE TO GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE but mod after mod will begin to change that. The biggest loss was when I did my cam and converter on my old setup.Your gears, heads, cam, headers, all of these will cause worst gas mileage.

Well the thing I forgot to mention is that I've had the mods for a while now and just recently (like the last couple of times I've filled up) I've been gettign the crappy gas mileage. Thanks for all the tips everyone.
