TTS header question?
Can I use Carsound cats (94006) to replace the stock TTS cats that come with the headers. The Carsound cats are 2.5" in and out. I don't know the specs for the TTS cats. Thanks in advance.

LOL, that icon cracks me up.
The TTS ypipe is 2.5" I think. I'm sure you could measure the diameter of the tubes to see.
I'm running a 3" custom ORP now.

I installed the TTS with Carsounds as the TTS bullet cats do not flow as well as Carsounds. I would not do it again.(It's a PITA to mount a 3 inch collector flange on the Carsound to bolt to the header...plus the longer Carsound will have clearance problems under the driver's side cross brace under the door) The TTS cats have a 3inch inlet and a 2.50 outlet that attaches to a 2.50 y pipe. Either use the TTS cats and give up 7 to 10ish hp over the Carsounds or knock the guts out of the TTS cats and use rear o2 simms for max horsepower....that's what I would do if I could do it again.
So has anyone used the cats gutted? What does that sound like? Usually I don't like the sound of gutted cats on other cars, but I have not heard this on an LS1.
I have these to install on my car. I got the set for Christmas and am ready. We made Off road pipes, but if I need cats for one reason or another, (or want them) What should I do?? Hummm
I left a message for Steve Cole to call me and am waiting. I won't wait long, it is Friday. I have questions. Does anyone else have some they would like me to ask?

TTS longtubes + gutted cats + slp dual/dual sounds deep and rumbly...not blatty...I have not heard any other systems with gutted cats. Steve will tell you his cats are great but the flowbench does not back that up.

Well, I spoke with Steve. Nice guy!
I'm going to make this nice and short.
They are testing their cats because the issue was brought to their attention. This is good.
My understanding is they use 400 cell while stock uses 600 and Carsound uses 200...My understanding.
That said, I would rather have more cell so they continue to stay together and not clog up in the end or end up in the muffler. That is down the road in time, but a consideration.
They are testing different brick thickness and oval style vs "bullet." My understanding is a test car with 7,000 mi. on the cats (and modified to fit the headers) ran quicker with stock cats, and with TTS cats, also 7,000 miles on them, it went faster. It is MY understanding that the TTS cats should show more TQ.
I understand little about flow tests, but I would think track results would be more "real" and all of the cats would have the opportunity to flow as designed with heat, not just cool air and that is where the insides come into play, right? I would think.
Those are MY understandings.....
Am I lost??? My brain feels like mush...
