Default Timing @WOT only at 25?

I was wantig to know the effect of this low timing on horsepower? Jayson @ mti said with custom tuning he could set the timng @30. How much horsepower gain from timing and the tuning.

Do you have an ’01 or up? 25 deg. At WOT on ‘01s and up is normal. You don’t need as much advance due to the redesigned cam profile.

I would agree with what RPM WS6 said. I had a '99 T/A and would get 28+ degrees advance. I atap'd my '01 the first month I got it and got a max of 25 degrees (around 5,700 rpm). Thought maybe it would go up after break-in but it did not.

To answer your question, we need to know all the details about your car. If its stock, then you won't gain much. If its highly modified, you will gain power.

More info please!

Just to let you know, my 01 gets 25.5 @ 5900-6k and thats with lid, filter, bbk, gmaf, maft, cats removed, exhaust. From day 1 it was like that. until you run real hot. Then it drops you a ton.. Like to 12.5* <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

From about 4500 up, it's fuel curves not timing advance that will get you the power. That's the way ed does it anyway. Ed is getting ~345 with basically stock/minor bolt on LS1 cars. Info for informational purposes/discussion only.

dont know if this goes with the topic, but if u have a hypertech, and install the RFG tuning this will give you more timing correct? Then u can tune it with the maft to give you more hp correct? more timing more horsepower..
