If your running a cut-out, I can almost guarantee it's your Torque Mgmnt pulling timing between shifts, especially on 1-2 shift. My 01' does it sometimes even when the cut-out is capped. It's no big deal, just a little embarrassing I guess.Hope this helps.

it normally does it on a 1-2 and 2-3 shift, it is definetly a shot guns noise, not a burble in the exhaust. I am confused because I know that my air/fuel is a little iff right now from the cam, and I am not that great with a tap to be able to really dial it in perfect, I was hoping that the backfiring on hard shifts would be because of a rich/or lean condition so I would know how it's running.

Default backfire on WOT shifts?

When I accellerate hard and shift near the redline, it backfires in between shifts, it never did this before my cam, would this be a lean or rich condition??? I a tapped and is running a little lean on bottom (14:1) and ok at WOT (.890-.910's) Is this normal? I am basicaly stock besides the thunder racing cam, lid, MAF, gutted cats and a flowmaster

Is it an actual backfire? Mine gurgles and pops when it is cold, not sure if you are getting the same thing. If you are getting that shotgun sort of sound, then it is definitely a backfire.

When my Z was running a little lean (fuel pressure sensor problem) there was no backfires, so I assume it is not due to the lean condition, but then I don't have an aftermarket cam either!

Good luck with your problem.
