I always hear that the LS1 engine in general runs better when it is warmer. What I would like to know is if this is true; why does everybody do either the fan mod, turn their fans on earlier with the hypertech, and run cooler thermostats. Is it just a myth; or is there a specific temp that the engine runs best at? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
Around 180 seems to be good. Problem is a stock T-Stat & fans let the temp go over 200 and a 180 T-stat normally has fans coming on at 192 - 194 degrees. Thus a lot of people use the 160 T-stat and fans that come on in the low 170s.

My car actually runs it’s best between 190 and 200. Above 200 and it starts to fall off a bit. I have a 180 stat and fan programming that keeps the motor around 195 at almost all times.
