Default Please convince me to put the B1 in using stock heads! :)

I have seen dynos, heard the stories.. blah blah blah, but i just want some affirmation on my decision. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> Mods are in sig, (minus n20, since this is the beginning of my NA route). So with my longtubes, free flowing exhaust and nicely breathing intake can i expect around 35rwhp, like i have seen others in the past? Will it most likely make my 12.2 et into an 11? Would the B1 adding an average amount of power, give me about 3mph? I kinda know the answers to these questions.. I just wanna be told to get off my *** and get this thing lol

I read stories and saw dyno graphs too just over a month ago. I was decided on either a comp 220/220//114 or the 222/222//114, and I couldn’t make up my mind so I just “split the difference” and got a B1. It’s not in the car yet, but I am confident that this cam (with MTI tuning), plus the ASP pulley and SLP LTs that I’m installing at the same time will take me from 12.6s @108 to 12.0/11.9 @113+. There was a guy at my local track in late November that was running a B1 with SLP LTs (with cats) on stock heads and LS1 intake with an A4 (not sure what stall or gears though), and he was getting 11.8X @115+, so I’m pretty sure I made the right choice.

So many people here gain 35+ rwhp with this cam (with good headers) that I doubt you could go wrong. From about 4000/4500 on up the gains are huge with a B1 from what I’ve seen. And it’ll perform great later down the line if you decide to go with S2 heads or something. There are plenty of guys making over 400rwhp on S2 heads and a B1, and some guys getting into the 380s on stock heads. I’ve also heard of a many passing emissions with it too, and the idle is pretty damn good considering the power gain.

I think the B1 is an all around GREAT cam.

I have heard that the idle is barely choppy through a muffler.. is this true? I have Corsa, so im wondering how noticable it will be <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

B1 is a great cam. Its barely noticeable thru a muffler <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Mark Shoemaker out of Kansas had a good example of what you are trying to accomplish. He has a Formula six speed car with all the normal mods: LS6 intake, exhaust, B1 cam, springs, and retainers. His car (unported) ran 11.80's, and made 379 rwhp. Many people say "Don't do it", but I have seen many cars making it work!!!!!!! BTW... he has since added ported heads!!!

Oregon(Shandy) is talking about my car. I don't hink I updated him on how well it did in the colder weather andandadded LS6 intake.

With stock heads, B1, Macs and LS6 intakeit made 385rwhp and 374rwtq..best run with the cam was a 11.66 with a few 118mph trap speeds...now if I could only get some good passes with the heads in this weather.

You should definitely do it!
