Default Cam time

Ok so i have decided to cam my 2002 ws6 m6. I´m going with the futral f13. My car will be a daily driver and i want streetable cam. I have read many posts about this cam and it seems like its gone do a good job. My goal is 400rwhp.`I´m also getting 3.73 gears.

I have a few Q?

1. I´m getting new valvesprings, titanium retainers and hardened pushrods.
Will i need anything else?

2. And do i have any chance of passing smog test?

3. Will i lose a lot of hp with a catted y pipe? i was thinking of getting pacesetter LT with their catted y pipe, and i already have a B&B catback.

thanx

1. You will probably want a different oil pump as well.
2. I don't know about the smog tests in Sweden, but there are cam cars here that pass them all the time. As long as you keep your O2s and smog control stuff on I think you will be fine.
3. You will probably lose like 10-20 HP with a catted Y. There was a huge difference from when I was running a non-catted y and stock exhaust and then switched to true duals.

By the way, how do people in Sweden react to your car? Love those wheels.

The LS6 oil pump has some revisions for better operation and the ported version runs more consistent oil pressures.

Yea as sigforty said it is a much better piece and will keep oil pressure steady. Prior to having the cam installed on my 98 z28 my oil pressure would kind of bob/fluctuate up and down but after installing the ported ls6 oil pump it held a little higher pressure but mainly kept the pressure steady.

I run a catted y-pipe and I seriously doubt you will loose more than 2-3 hp. A posrted LS6 oil pump will give you greater flow thru the oil pump = higher oil pressure = less internal stress from oil starvation.

I dont know anyone around here that passes a sniffer with an F13 cam. Too big, plain and simple. Largest people get away with is a 224 cam. If you only have OBD-2 inspection, then you can pass with any cam under the sun as long as you get codes tuned out.

You want an oil pump that moves more oil and keeps your pressure up in higher rpm's. The engine will be sucking all the oil it cam at higher rpm's and if the pump cant provide youll have added wear. A ported oil pump will help this problem.
