For anybody thinking of buying high flow air filters

Re: For anybody thinking of buying high flow air filters
GEORGE C, the reason your car runs better with filter is air flow that goes thru some type of filter is organized by it. The more laminar the flow of air the more that will go thru MAF and TB.
Think of the screen in filter as a french fry cutter, because thats what is does to turbulent air as it passes thru, also MAF cant properly read turbulent air, thats why MAF has a screen in it.

DanZ28 ;
I have heard this also, so I bought one, also like the fit better than the K&N.

LS1derfull: Apparently GM believes that the screen is no longer necessary as they removed it in the latest Z06's. I read that they believed that the additional power given by removal of the screen offset the need to straighten the airflow. Also that it was too close to the intake to make a significant difference.
I haven't looked under the hood of a C5 recently, but if I recall their intake tract is short like the F-bodies.

JIM MUELLER, GM only feels screen is needed when there is bends in the intake tract, fbody and vette dont have any real bends. I have flow tested my maf with and w/out screen and it picked up 124cfm with out screen!Nice free mod!
