well it is winter and i have to drive my car here in KS. i have a set of Dynatech headers with the slip on collectors that are prone to leak. with the cold weather i need to run the heat. right now because of the cold weather, the exhaust gases are leaking out of the collector. with the cold weather, i think the gases are "laying" around the bottom of my car and stink it up pretty nasty. i notice it big time when i am at a stop light or warming the car in the morning. i know the slip on collectors are prone to this. but right now with the cutout (zed style) open, it seems worse. that does not make sense since there is more backpressure. but oh well. with it capped, it is almost bareable.
so PLEASE help me! right now i am really frustrated and dont want to pull the headers and sell them! they look, sound, and perform awesome! but i need help. i am thinking about sealing them with RVT or other high temp sillicone sealer. but i think that will burn off quickly. i wont buy another car for about a year and a half. what should i do? seal just the outside of the collector? pull the collector and seal inside and out? help me out guys. thanks!

John, the Dynatechs are a RACE ONLY header, and slip-on collectors are not supposed to seal. Those headers were intended to be run wide open, with no exhaust behind them, so the collector length is the only thing important for tuning the powerband. The ONLY way to get those things to seal would be to have the four primarys welded together inside the collector, then have the collector welded onto the primarys as a seal-weld.
You should have bought FLP headers, or any other type of streetable headers.

thanks for the note on sensor safe rtv! thanks, i dont mind pulling them off every three months if it means keeping my setup.
I hsd the same problem before with my old dynatech's. I used sensor safe RTV and sealed the collectors up. You have to be careful and let it dry completely first. I didnt one time and trashed a set of O2's. I works well but i had to reapply every 3 months or so. That will cure your problems.
