There are other shops putting good warranties on their products. The 422 currently going into my car from MTI will carry a 24-month 24,000-mile warranty. All of this on an engine that will likely be getting somewhere between 560-590 hp at the flywheel (all-motor!) and maybe 25 mpg highway driving.

I don't think the warranty is the big price difference. Based on the little that I know, I think LPE is charging more because:

1) They have name recognition with the I-have-a-lot-of-money crowd who wants turnkey performance.

2) They are very cutting edge in a lot of what they do, which requires significant development costs.

I sure have enjoyed having my MTI 2 year/24,000 mile warranty in my NA 9 second ride. <img src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

I havn't seen much info on Lingefelter as far as heads and cam that people are using. Seems like you see alot about MTI and ARE. Is LPE just too high priced, I heard they do good work.

I just spent some time on their website. It looks like they are offering top-quality products. Also, some of their prototypes have been widely adopted. They also look *very* pricey. For their 750 hp twin-turbo 'Vette package, I estimate that you could get someone like ARE, MTI, etc. to build it for about $20,000 cheaper than what they charge!!

Exactly why Turbo Technology has been developing a twin turbo for the C5 in cooperation with ARE. They will make the same power for much, much less than LPE. LPE makes very good stuff, but since they are often "cutting edge" in their packages, they pay a premium and pass it on to the customer. Plus they warranty all their buildups for 24 months or 24,000 miles. Find another shop that does that?
