About to dyno LS1 for first time...
What kinda estimated power(to the ground) should I have with a trap speed of 107.29?
And doesn't the guy working there have anyone there with him to strap the cars down?? Usually there are about 1-2 strap guys....
Make sure your ready and have everything on the car ready, make sure the temps are good, you have the right amount of oil....and beat the living hell out of it on the way there to get the CPU tricked to add some FUEL...

I'm not sure if there will be more than one guy helping.
"Make sure I'm ready" What exactly do I have to do to be ready?
"Beat the hell out of it..." Will it still give it that extra fuel if I turn it off while I'm waiting?
You should put out about 310rwhp I assume, all depends

Also what mods do you have on the car?
In addition to the weather, the dyno #'s are also affected by the type of dyno and dyno software used. I have dynoed at three different places. Two of them pull the numbers in my sig, but one of them(the one that has the least technical setup), pulls slightly lower #'s.
second, i, like others, are not into "tricking" the dyno. there are ways to do it with light drivetrane parts, but still, come on! you will not be able to trick the track of the street and you are just lying to yourself and your friends. just go up there as if you were going to race. then you will have an idea of what you need to tune the car. that is what a dyno is for. it is a tuning piece. if you want to dyno race, that is your business. but to see how your car is actually going to perform, you need to run it. shift to 4th and put the pedal to the floor until you bang the rev limiter! you will make the power. cheating 4 or 5 RWHP is lame. you should have over 300. good luck
If you have Traction Control, Turn it OFF!!! If not, you are in for a big rude awakening when it engages
Also, when you rev your car up to the rev limiter and let off the gas, DON'T step on the brake. The dyno roller will stop your rear wheels for you, so don't step on your brakes, or else you will risk destroying your brakes.
Also, set your expectations LOW. Too many times I have to pick my friends up off the floor because they are throwing a fit because they believed all the inflated HP numbers that add on parts company post. So be very conservative and if you dyno higher then your low estimate you will be happy. If you assume you will dyno as high as all the add on parts boast, then you will go home and want to drive your car off a bridge..
Good luck on the dyno, and make sure you get SAE corrected numbers and not STD.
Here's one question though, do I just "drive" like normal until I get to 4th, and when I do get there, what RPM should I start the run at?
Also, do I just hit the rev limiter (isn't this bad???) or do I just get off the gas somewhere near it, like 6150?
After I'm done with the pull, do I leave it in gear and let it engine brake, or do I shift it into neutral and let it coast to a stop?
Also you want to start your dyno around 2,000 RPM or so, then stomp on it once the dyno machine starts logging.
When you are done your pull, put it in neutral and let the dyno stop your rear wheels for you. That is the safest bet. You don't want to let your car engine break against all that mass spinning on the dyno wheel.
Good luck with your dyno. Let us know how you did.
One thing to let you know. Since this is your first time dynoing, some places won't let you be the one to drive your car on the dyno for insurance reasons. But if you get to drive your car on the dyno, you will be scared crapless the first time. You will be going over 100 mph and yet standing still with your friends standing next to your car It will really freak you out a little the first time. However, the fear will pass and the next couple runs will be pure adrenaline
Good luck,
Dan
Assure your tire pressures are correct or a tad higher, less rolling resistance, better results.
Try and keep the engine temps constant so that you get close results from one run to the other.
Don't let the temps get too cold, get close to normal temps.
Use a good grade of gas.
If you can, insist for the money your paying that the shop has a good fan that is moving air into
radiator area so that your IAT temps are normal as on the street.
I'd shoot for going to just under redline, some dyno shops tell you to lift off g-pedal around 5,800 RPMs.
It's my money so when they say lift, I go to 6,500 RPMs( since 6600 is my redline)

Okay, well I've never dynoed my car, or any car for that matter, but the time has come! Later this week about 4 of us are renting the dyno for about 2 hours. I need tips/tricks to get us on the dyno, strapped down, and running as quick as possible. Also, any general tips/tricks would be very helpful as none of us have run a car yet. I know the guy working there will be of some help, but I'm sure he's not going to bust his @$$ to make it that much quicker/easier!

first weather will not effect the dyno as the power should be SAE CORRECTED. that is the only thing that matters. actual power does not matter.

I guess I worded it WAY wrong...I don't want to cheat by any means! I'm not in to throwing out numbers, if anything I'll tell people my car runs 14's just to surprise them! I was just asking about tips/tricks because I've never seen or actually done a dyno on any car!
How low of rpm's should I be when I start the run in 4th?
