I too have the small engine tick at idle. I know that on Ford's when they tick it's usually because the injecters are opening and closing and just get noisy. I use to put upper cylinder lubricant in my T-Bird and it run completely quiet. I bought a 5.25 oz of Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant and Injector Cleaner and put the whole thing in the brake booster line like I did my T-Bird. I rev it twice to see the smoke out the back and then turned it off. Waited 20 minutes and drove it hard until I didn't see smoke anymore. It acts like Seafoam with a lubricant in it. It won't stall the car when adding to the line either. The engine doesn't tick or ping anymore afterwards. For me it was a fix to the ticking. It cost $3.25 at Pep Boys too. It's worth a shot.

No, don't have to change oil. It doesn't sound like that either. I'm sure its the injectors opening and closeing. Sometimes they get kinda sticky. TSDuke, go to Pep Boys on Skibo and look on the end cap. Get the small bottle. You won't be broke afterwards either
