SB Rods & Stock Crank Journal size
What SB rods will work with our Stock Crank Journal size?
I may be asking the question wrong.. But, where the Rod connects to our Stock crank, what size is that?
Saw a nice Forged 4340 Eagle Rod. I know the wrist pin can be addressed with a custom piston, but what about the 'Big End .940' ?
TIA!

Re: SB Rods & Stock Crank Journal size
Doing this for the 1st time..
This LS1 data looks right, eh?
Crankshaft Connecting Rod Journal Diameter (Production) 53.318-53.338 mm 2.0991-2.0999 in
Crankshaft Connecting Rod Journal Diameter (Service Limit) 53.308 mm (Minimum) 2.0987 in (Minimum)
Forged Connecting Rod specs:
.927" Wrist Pin - 2.100" Crank Journal
would work with our Stock Crank as long as I modify the custom wrist pin on the Piston to match, right?
What about the rod 'Big End' width? Is that the Outside O.D. of where the rod connects to the piston?? Does it matter? Looks like around .940" ..

Journal sizes are the same.....just watch out for the amount of offset on the big end....it makes it tight on the piston end of things.
Weight is the BIG issue...may need a fair bit of Mallory metal to make heavy clunker Chinese rods balance...
