Default Gasket remover?

Hey everyone, what are you using to remove old gaskets off the block? I'm mounting a new water pump soon and the old gaskets are really adhered to the block! Thanks in advance.

Use a sharp razor blade to get the majority of it off, then go over it with acetone and a 3M pad. When you replace the gaskets get the 99-present replacements they are similar to the front cover gasket (metal with silicone) alot easier to remove.

I use a plastic ice scraper. For REALLY tuff jobs. Scotchbrite (brown) pads take old gasket material off lickety split.

I use a combination of a brand new razor blade, and Permatex gasket remover. This stuff is really strong and will burn your skin if you are not careful, so ware some latex gloves. Also don't let it get into your eyes. It doesn't seem to hurt aluminum, and really softens up the old gaskets. I don't like to scrape to much, because of the risk of gouging the aluminum.

thanks for the ice scraper idea. I know that metal objects can damage the aluminum surfaces some
