I hope its OK to post a link to a non sponsors site. They are a distributor for ARE.
The link is to a description and price for the head/cam package.

Re: New ARE Heads/Cam package results
We are very happy with the results on this package. The price is $1650 for the whole H&C package including pushrods! The heads alone are in the $1150 range, we have a few sets in stock ready to go.
We will sell this package with whatever cam you want, the one we used here is a 220/226 114 with .544 lift; it runs on the factory tuning no problem in the M6, we just bumped the revlimiter with the hpp3.
We did a C-5 earlier on (a few years) and it pulled almost 390rwhp/380rwtrq.

SORRY! I was waiting for a purple vette comment. You should check out the Motown Muscle board for some local upcomming events. I would like to see how you fare at the track with your new found power.

Re: New ARE Heads/Cam package results
That date might work Tom. I wonder if I can persuade ChrisARE360 to come down too. That way, I'll have a ride home after I toast the stock clutch (if it lasts till then).
I guess its time to check the mileage from St. Thomas to ARE to see if my Auto club will cover the tow

From Mississauga to St.Thomas is 170km Richard, so that's just over the limit for CAA plus. I would imagine St.Thomas is a further drive for you since you're further south and have to come up highway 6 first. You could always have the car towed to Chris F's place in London!

Re: New ARE Heads/Cam package results
You guys let me know when everyone is going to St.Thomas and I am there. I should have the ARE 436 in and tuned by the time the track opens for the season.
I usually end up at St Thomas on Friday nights and its all little punks dragracing their dad's pickups

Re: New ARE Heads/Cam package results
boy oh boy... I dont want to be the big "detractor" here... But several folks have made that much or more power with:
intake, headers, "medium" cam, pulley, LS6 intake, and MAFT or custom tuning.
Seems like that would cost less. Assuming that the intake cost you 15 hp and the gears 7, you are down 22hp to a LS6 intaked 3.42 car. Add that to your cutout clsed #s and you would be at 392 rwhp. Folks have done that without removing the heads.
Now, Im not trying to get in here and say you went with the wrong route or spent too much $$$. I guess I'm just saying that there are cheaper ways to make more HP. 381hp is still fun hp though. Congrats on the new stuff

Not sure I follow your math:
Cut-out closed = 381 HP
....Intake/Gears = 22 HP (your #)
............Total = 403 HP
413 HP with cut-out open. Very nice numbers, especially if he has CATS (I don't know)

[quote]Nick, can you give us some more details on the heads? stock valves? compression ratio?

I'm not Nick, but the heads are using stock valves and retainers, Comp 918 springs, are are milled .030 for 10.8 Compression.

Re: New ARE Heads/Cam package results
Most cam cars will all boltons make between 360-367 RWHP
Dont forget Richard is running stock tuning, 4.10 gears, 17 inch rims and tires, NO UD pullies, NO ACPT Driveshaft, NO Lightweight flywheel, NO 3.42's in stock rear.
If he did all the changes listed above he would likely be 415+ RWHP easily through open cutout.
Cheers,
Chris

I've got MAC cats and stock cats sitting in the rafters of my garage. Does that count?
I've seen posts from others that have gotten more HP than me without heads. Since the heads are the most expensive part, I'm sure they would've gotten away cheaper too. I chose my mod course a little differently than they did.
As time goes by, I've always got the cheaper boltons I can strap on. I can always get it tuned. It just all costs money, and I'm about tapped out for now

My apologies. I thought I had seen 371 with the cutouts closed. Mis-read. Indeed good numbers then if you can add the pulleys, LS6 intake, and some MAFT tuning and deduct for the gears. I also just recalled that I was generally getting about 15hp from MAFT tuning as well. LS1 edit may get the same benefit or more.
But dont ya love the way you just seem to always be 2 or so mods away from just where you want it?
