I have a question..

Did you get Lash caps with your pushrods?

Also, if any of you have the new dual spring setup have to clearence your stock rockers so they didnt hit?

Dave, you know I have ARE heads on both my cars. Stage II came with lash caps and Stage I came without. The big springs did require some clearancing but I have a solid roller so unless you are considering that route you will not need it. No clearancing required for a basic hyd cam. Shoot me an email and we can discuss my set-up on either car!

Well Tom,

Apprearantly you need to clearence the rockers with the "new" valve springs..

i DO NOT like this idea..

My Stage 2 something heads and pushrods needed 80thou lash caps...

Seems i guessed wrong on the size of caps too.. lol.. that was my fault.. dont ask..

a stock pushrod is 7.400 ..

The ones i have are 7.250

And with a .080 cap that still doesnt = 7.350

isnt that a little short?

Then again i understand i have or SHOULD have more than 30 off the head cause i wanted 11 or as close as possible compression..

Anyways, just being paranoid i think..

any thoughts?

Uh oh. I am due to get my ARE H/C package here in about a week. From the sounds of it, the same thing you have y2kz28. I will be doing the install myself, but in all of the directions that I have read, I have not run into anything regarding the lash caps or clearencing the rockers.

Is there anyplace that I can look to get a better idea what you guys are talking about. The last thing I want is a surprise when I get this thing together.

Dave,

I got .060 lash caps with my package. I found them in the bottom of the box AFTER I had everything together. I've got the dual spring setup (K-800's according to Nick), and haven't had any problems. There's a picture of the springs with rockers and caps installed somewhere at my photo site below.

Yeah...if you have 1.45" or great diameter springs, you are gonna have to clearance the rockers. Done it lots of times now and no problems. I *really* wish jmX and I had taken a photo of what needs to be clearanced. It really isnt a big deal. I think I recall that there are 2 curved portions that you dremmel away to make it a more square corner. Then you are done. Doesnt appear to weaken the rocker. And if you do it with a fast enough dremel with a nice bit, you arent going to introduce cracks. Just takes about 45 minutes for all 16 if you take your time.

I didn't do this - I wonder why Nick didn't mention this to me when I talked to him about the caps.
