422 is in! Results inside.
AND, I'll definately let everyone know how the RX7 does with that '00 LS1 / T56 in there! Gotta finish the fuel and electrical first.
After that, we'll see what he's got. I'll be getting my nittos sometime next week, so I'm inclined to wait until then anyway.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I cruised tonight with a few people on the north end of town. Weather was too cool for the tires to hook up well (cold Nittos = poor traction). The one or two times I got a good hookup was insane. Also freaked out a few people around me when I did it (another guy in the group also had an insanely fast car - was sort of fun to mess with people). I am loving this thing. Sounds tame under most driving, and kind of Pro Stock under full throttle
xxxhp - you definitely notice the R1 cam. It lopes like hell at idle - good enough to give any gearhead a woody It is not idling well as I am getting some surging and an occasional stall. Jayson says that should be improved once I swap out the throttle bodies. It has already improved some today once Jayson set the idle about 50 RPM higher - did not stall on me at all this evening. God I love that lope!
LS1 Powered - I used to storm chase in Oklahoma. I was a graduate student at OU and worked for Dr. Howie Bluestein, the guy who essentially invented research storm chasing and on whom the movie Twister was based. Do not know the guy you are talking about though.
Leo - Willing to cruise sometime if you would like. There were a bunch of silver/pewter Zs and TAs in the group I was cruising with tonight. Pretty cool.

Thanks alot for the info. At what speed does it idle now ? My guess is that 900 rpm should be good enough.
You should probably give Jayson a break . I've been emailing him for the last week without getting a response back. You are probably taking most of his time
Can't wait to have that motor in my car .
Enjoy the beast

That R1 cam is 232/237 right? If that lopes good then I wonder what my cam will sound like in my 422 ARE motor with a 242/242.

Looking at my cam card - it is 232/236 114 LSA (112 LSA available for 'Vettes), with max valve lift of 0.574/0.578. 242/242 is going to be BIG - I think Colonel's is 244/244 on a 112, so you are going to be right in that territory.
Would definitely not want to run any of these cams in a stocked cube motor - but wow they work in the big ones Still hard to get the grins off of my face.

The car is idling somewhere between 900 and 950 - can't tell exactly even with two tachs.
MTI (Jayson and crew) is slammed. What they have been doing is getting so popular that everyone is beginning to want some. I have actually been trying to hold down my contact with them a little because of this. I *think* that they are thinking of expanding, but that they would want to do that carefully if they were to do it - good cylinder head work is not a trivial thing that can just be farmed out to anyone!!
Very nice numbers!!! And this is coming from a true blue Ford guy who is swallowing his pride right now....he he

Jet - nice meeting you the other night. You have a pretty darn nice ride yourself.
Raughhammer - nice to meet you also. It scares me what kind of time you could run in this ride given what you just did with your setup. It would put anything I could do to shame.
Mouzetrap - sell the Ford and come on down to MTI - they'll convert your religion really quickly Seriously, thanks.
I also want to thank MTI for building such phenomenal yet streetable engines. Jayson, Jeff, Josh, Patrick, and the others have been nothing but totally cool and very helpful. I can tell these guys stand behind what they do.
