Default 382 all bore engine/solid roller

I just picked up a LS1 to install into
my 1970 camaro .

Before I install the engine I was thinking
of tweaking it a bit .

Couple things I woud like to know :

Has anybody had any failures with the 382 all bore. Like splitting a cylinder sleeve ?
I'm not used to seeing a sleeved block ,I would
like to know what the wall thickness is of the sleeve. Things look pretty weak to me.

I would also like to run a solid roller .
Are the cam companies building stuff for
the LS1 yet or is it all custom made stuff?

I see that shaft rockers are available .

Just wanna know before I go dump serious $$
if its gonna be a problem.

Thanks.

you'll have to fend for yourself on the bore deal...unless you want to fork out 4500+. do a search for "solid roller" or "solid" on this section and you'll find what you need on that.

I think I'm "NOT" doing a solid roller
set up .

For a Jesel shaft rocker system ,
part #K2A-3012203 $$1416.00

for JEsel solid lifters $140.00 each X 16 $2240.00
using stock locator plates

and a custom solid roller cam $450-ish

lets see.....$$4100.00 , i'm laughing :-)

there has to be a better way .

How bout gutting the hydralic lifter bodies and inserting a tool steel slug ?? it would work.
use the TD shafts or compcam rockers

that would be about $1200 total with the cam

Try pricing the Jesel sportsman setup or the T&D rockers. Closer to 700-800.

Also I believe the crane solid's for LS1's go for 350-500.

But don't forget to add in machine work for appropriate springs, and valve cover spacers, etc.

ask nineball he has lots of axperience w/382 all bore. His seemed to hold up OK before he sold it. Personally I wouldn't hesitate for a minute. I looked into having
MTI do my C5 but it was going to cost close to 2x that of an ATI SC. just don't have enough $$ for the 382 mods. end up w/ SC
