Default Question on 3.5 inch intermediate pipe

Does anyone know if you can buy just a 3.5 inch intermediate pipe?
I am thinking about the following changes to my exhaust for this season:
dual 2.5 inch into 3.5 inch FM collector
3.5 inch cutout
3.5 inch intermediate pipe
3.5 inch dynomax Race Magnum muffler
90 degree mandrel bent 3.5 inch tailpipe
3.5 inch chromed tip

What do you think? Should flow and sound pretty good I would imagine and still be reasonably lightweight.
All I need is the 3.5 inch intermediate pipe, everything else should be easy to get.
Thanks again,
Chris

Chris I'm confused too.Do I build a 3in Y or a 2.5in Y like my MACS.I pulled 432 threw the MAC Y w/the collector mod and still have ALL the ball flanges on them?If the Dynas dont make the same or better HP/TQ than my Macs do,Then I'll cut all the ball flanges off and run MACS threw a 3.5in interm. to a cutout.

A 2.5in Y to a 2.5/3.5 merge to a 3.5in intermed. to a 3.5in cutout sounds like it will still make good HP/TQ over a broad RPM.I think u can buy 3.5in oval tubing from Spintech.Call Denny at Mufflex.

Decision,Decisions...

I think I am going to keep my MAC's honestly. I pulled 460RWHP@5000rpm and 455RWTQ through the MAC's with offroad through the FULL exhaust. (No cutout) with only collector mod done and all ball flanges in place.

I am kinda confused as to what to do as well. An MTI car pulled over 500RWHP NA through the stock MAC headers and Ypipe with no catback.
Cheers,
Chris

Personally I'd do a Y pipe with 3" pipe, going into 3.5" Chris.

Chris,

If it was my car, I'd do what Pro Stock John has suggested. When it's over at ARE, just get Nick to have it done for you

I am getting my exhaust done tomorrow and it is pretty similar to what you want to do. My MAC headers are in stock form, no collector mod or anything. I have bought all the parts and it is going to be setup as follows:

1 x 3" Y-pipe ($175)
1 x Flowmaster (2) 3" in/ (1) 3.5" out ($43)
1 x 3.5" Intermiadate pipe ( $29 for a 9 ft. 3.5" piping)
1 x 3.5" 45 degree mandrel bent pipe ($37)
2 x 3.5" Mandrel bent U-bend ($50 a piece; $100 for 2)
1 x 3.5" in/out Hooker Aerochamber muffler ($52)
2 x 3.5" in/ 4" out Flowmaster slash cut chromed tailpipes ($41 a piece, $82 for 2)

The 45 degree pipe is to transition from the intermiadate to the bend over the axle. One of the U-bent pipes is going to be used to get over the axle. The other U is going to be used to go into the muffer and out from the muffler.

I am going to do a Borla-like setup, the passenger side tail-pipe is going to be a cut-out before it goes into the 3.5" single in/single out Hooker muffler.

I had the hardest time finding the 3.5" mandrel bent pipes. Everyone carries up to a maximum of 3" ! I had to go to about a dozen places before I found a shop that would order 3.5" mandrel bends. Also, Mufflex does not sell 3.5" or 4" mandrel bends separetly, only the full catback

I think you've had more exhuasts than anyone Chris. Did you ever do true duals, with no mufflers but with Carsound cats (I thought that was a cool idea)?

Any exhaust shop would sell you a length of 3.5" tubing. Just order a mandrel bend of find a shop with a mandrel bender, order a muffler and a tip, and you're almost set. This assumes you are going under the axle and not over it. I'd go with a 3" Y, cant hurt can it?

Check out www.flowmastermufflers.com for 3.5" bends.
